Who we are

Bloomward (the "Game") is made by SeriousPixel, LLC, doing business as SeriousPlay Games ("we", "us" or "our"). This policy explains what information is involved when you visit the Game's website or play the Game, and what we do with it.

Information we collect

None. We don't ask you for any personal information to play. There's no sign-up, no login, and no form that collects your name, email address, age or location. Once the Game's files have loaded, it doesn't send anything about you or how you play to us or to anyone else.

Information stored on your device

To remember your progress, the Game uses your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and we can't see it. It includes:

• your saved patches: the manual save slots and the autosave, each a snapshot of the simulation, the settings you gave your colonies, your field journal (including photos you took in photo mode) and your camera bookmarks;
• which patches you've completed and unlocked;
• your settings, such as units, sound volumes, graphics quality, camera and depth-of-field options, text size, reduced motion and the marginalia, concept card and journal options;
• when you last exported a copy of your saves, and whether you want to be reminded.

The Game also uses a service worker to keep a copy of its own files in your browser, so you can play offline. That copy contains only the Game's code and data, nothing about you.

You can delete this at any time. Delete individual saves from Save or load in the Game, or clear this site's data in your browser settings to remove everything. Once it's cleared, your progress is gone for good, because we don't keep a copy, unless you've made a backup.

Backup and export files

You can download a backup of everything from Settings → Backup and restore, or export single saves from Save or load. A backup contains your saved patches, your completed patches and your settings; an export contains one save. Neither contains your name or anything else about you. The files are created in your browser and saved straight to your device; they never pass through our servers. When you restore a backup or import a save, the Game reads the file in your browser, without uploading anything.

Keep these files wherever you like. They're yours, and we can't see, recover or delete them.

No cookies, analytics or tracking

The Game doesn't use cookies, analytics, advertising identifiers, tracking pixels or anything else that follows you across websites. It doesn't load fonts, scripts or other files from third parties: its libraries are served from our own site, it uses the fonts already on your device, and its sound and music are synthesized in your browser as you play.

Server logs

Like every website, ours is delivered by a web server. When your browser requests a page, the server that hosts it automatically receives the technical details that come with any web request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. Our hosting provider uses these logs to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems, and keeps them only for a limited time. We don't use them to identify you, build a profile of you or advertise to you.

If you email us

If you contact us, we'll receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply to you and to improve the Game, and we delete it when it's no longer needed for that.

Sharing and selling

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't show ads or share information for advertising. We would disclose information only if the law required it.

Children and classrooms

The Game is designed to be suitable for players of all ages, including students. It has no accounts and collects nothing, so children can play without sharing anything about themselves. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where they live). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us and we'll delete it.

Teachers and schools can use the Game in class without creating student accounts or handing over student data. On shared classroom devices, each browser keeps its own saves; delete them from Save or load, or clear the site's data, before the next student plays.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and U.S. state privacy laws (including California's) may give you the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, or to object to how it's used. The Game doesn't collect your name, contact details or anything about how you play, so we usually have nothing about you in particular. If you've emailed us, you can ask us to access or delete that correspondence, and we won't treat you differently for asking.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Your saves are protected by your browser in the same way as other website data on your device, so anyone with access to your device and browser profile may be able to see or change them.

Links to other websites

The Game links to other sites, including www.seriousplaygames.com. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy doesn't cover them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the Game handles information, for example by adding accounts, analytics or purchases, we'll update this policy before the change takes effect and revise the date at the top. We'll never apply a less protective policy to information we collected under an earlier version without asking you.
